ChemTinker is a set of interactive chemistry simulations for HS and AP Chemistry classrooms. This page explains what information is and isn't collected when you use this site.
We do not collect any personal information from students. The simulations run entirely in your browser. There are no student accounts, no logins, and no student answers, scores, or activity are sent to or stored on our servers.
When a simulation is downloaded and used inside a school's learning management system (Schoology, Canvas, Moodle, etc.), any scoring or progress tracking happens within that LMS using its own SCORM reporting. It is not sent to chemtinker.com.
What we do collect: if a teacher submits the "Request a Simulation" form, we store the information provided in that form (topic, class level, description, and an optional email if the teacher wants to be notified). This is used only to build new simulations and is never sold or shared with third parties. Like virtually all websites, our server also keeps standard technical logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) for security and troubleshooting purposes; these are not used for tracking or advertising.
No ads, no third-party trackers. This site does not run advertising, and does not use third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
Cookies: the only cookie used is a session cookie for the site's admin login, used solely to keep the site owner signed in to manage content. It is not used to track visitors and is not accessible to students.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, contact us and we will remove it.
